The hotel’s name alludes to the Ses Negres marine reserve, a protected area south of the cove. Very rich in marine flora and fauna, it makes it possible for biodiversity to be preserved while also benefitting artisan fishing.
In the past Sa Riera was a fishing beach where the main catches were anchovies, mackerel and sardines. The cove has kept its seafaring atmosphere over the years and we are working to make it more so than ever by offering a style of cuisine based on seafood and produce grown locally in the Empordà.
